Dictate Session Notes Using Speech-to-Text
The Workshop Notes Widget integrates with the Speech Recognition Service from the speech-to-text-input feature, enabling coordinators to activate voice input directly within the notes editor. This is particularly valuable during active two-day career workshop sessions where continuous typing is impractical. The dictated text is appended to the existing note content and the coordinator can review and edit the transcription before it is auto-saved. This builds on the speech-to-text capability shared with activity registration, applying it to the workshop note-taking context.
User Story
Acceptance Criteria
- Given I am on the workshop notes widget, when I tap the speech-to-text button, then the microphone activates and a visual indicator shows that recording is in progress
- Given speech-to-text is active, when I speak, then the transcribed text appears in the notes field in near real-time
- Given speech-to-text produces a transcription, when I stop recording, then the transcription is inserted at the cursor position and I can edit it before it is auto-saved
- Given speech-to-text is active, when I tap the stop button, then recording ceases and the final transcription is committed to the notes field
- Given a speech recognition error occurs, when the microphone fails or speech cannot be transcribed, then an error message is displayed and any partial transcription is preserved for editing
- Given the device microphone permission has not been granted, when I tap the speech-to-text button, then I am prompted to grant microphone access before activation proceeds
Business Value
Reduces cognitive load on coordinators facilitating intensive multi-day workshop programmes. Voice input enables faster, more complete note capture compared to typing on a mobile device, directly improving the quality and completeness of session records and the follow-up actions generated from the karriereverksted programme.
